Una Coreografía define el comportamiento entre Participantes que interactúan intercambiando Mensajes. Es un contrato entre los Participantes, en el sentido que establece las obligaciones de las partes.

Así como existe un Proceso dentro de la Piscina de un Participante, una Coreografía existe entre las Picinas de los Participantes.

Una Coreografía se parece a un Proceso Privado, ya que consta de una Actividades, Eventos y Compuertas. Sin embargo, en una Coreografía una Actividad representa el intercambio de un conjunto de Mensajes, que involucran a dos o más Participantes. Además, a diferencia de un Proceso normal, no existe un controlador central, una entidad responsable.

Un Diagrama de Coreografía puede mostrar las Coreografías de manera independiente o entre las Piscinas de los Participantes.

Especificación BPMN

A self-contained Choreography (no Pools or Orchestration) is a definition of the expected behavior, basically a procedural contract, between interacting Participants. While a normal Process exists within a Pool, a Choreography exists between Pools (or Participants).

The Choreography looks similar to a private Business Process since it consists of a network of Activities, Events, and Gateways (see Figure 7.4). However, a Choreography is different in that the Activities are interactions that represent a set (1 or more) of Message exchanges, which involves two or more Participants. In addition, unlike a normal Process, there is no central controller, responsible entity, or observer of the Process.

Choreographies MAY be shown “in between” the Pools as they bisect the Message Flows between the Pools.
